ID Released For SUV Driver Killed In Town Of Newburgh Crash

An Orange County man has been identified as the driver of an SUV killed after crashing into a garbage truck in the Town of Newburgh.

Wilbur Grant, 57, of the Town of Newburgh, was killed Saturday shortly before 11 a.m. on Route 32 (North Plank Road) near the intersection of Paffendorf Drive in the Cronomer Valley section of the town, said Lt. James Nenni of the Town of Newburgh Police Department.

Grant, who was traveling eastbound on Route 32, struck a garbage truck from behind. The garbage truck had turned right, from Paffendorf Drive, onto eastbound Route 32, Nenni said.

He later died at St. Luke’s/Cornwall Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the garbage truck, Robert Miller, 49, of Middletown, was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
